There will be NO SCHOOL today, February 7th due to significant illness in the buildings. Have a good weekend and stay healthy.

Good afternoon,
As most of you are aware we have had huge numbers of sick students this week. The last 3 days the numbers have hovered around 30% of our students being out of the buildings sick or being sent home sick. I was hoping it would be better today but it is not. With that being said, I am closing both campuses of Piqua Catholic tomorrow, Friday, February 7th. Hopefully having this 3 day break will put everyone on the mend. I am attaching a flier that explains what to do in regard to when your child can return to school after being sick. We are asking that you follow these guidelines to help keep everyone healthy.
Thank you and hope to see everyone back here feeling great!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We recently mailed a letter regarding our health education programs and the option to opt out of specific lessons. Unfortunately, some families may not have received it in time for the original January 31st deadline.
To ensure all families have the opportunity to respond, we have extended the opt-out form deadline to Friday, February 7th, 2025. If you wish to opt your child out of any of these programs, please contact the school office to complete the necessary form.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Specific questions about the programs can be sent to Mrs. Mascarenhas at amascarenhas1@udayton.edu.

If you are Safe Parish trained and would like to help in the North St or the Downing St cafeterias one or two times a month, we could use your help! This is a message from Our Lady of Fatima Family of Parishes’ pastor, Fr. Eric Bowman.
Effective today, Erin Freisthler is no longer employed by Piqua Catholic School.
Fr. Eric accepted her resignation from her position as principal. I am grateful to Mrs. Freisthler for her contributions to our school for the last five months, and I wish her all the best in the future.
Cyndi Cathcart, current principal of St. Patrick Catholic School, has agreed to serve as interim principal of Piqua Catholic School. Assistant principals are still in place in each building for the remainder of the school year. Our students, staff and school families will continue to be filled with a quality, faith-driven Catholic education. Ms. Cathcart is looking forward to seeing staff and students at school Masses and in the classrooms this week!
The search for a new principal will begin in the coming months, with the objective to fill the position for the 2025-2026 school year.

Hello from Cavaliers in Action, Piqua Catholic's PTO! It was so fun to see our students be so loving and thoughtful as they picked gifts at our Santa Shop this year. The students brought in money so they could shop for their family members, which we then wrapped their gifts so they could be taken home to place under the tree. The kids love giving gifts to their family! A big THANK YOU to our volunteers who helped set up, run our event, help with our start up costs, and all who donated bags. We couldn't do it without you! We would love to offer this event next year but we need more help! Would you like to give us a hand? For this event most of the prep can be done from home or on your own schedule by purchasing items on sale or shopping online, we like to have a wide variety of items to offer our students at the Santa Shop. The last two years we have only had 2 members on our planning committee. We will need at least 3 additional adults to commit in order to have a Santa shop next year. If you are interested but not sure you want to commit - feel free to call and inquire. We will provide you with training and support! Contact Ruthie Baker to learn more- (937)474-7306. Thank you, Ruthie Baker Cavaliers in Action PTO President

Just a reminder that Piqua Catholic School will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday January 22nd, due to the extreme cold. Stay warm and safe. See you Thursday, Cavs.
